American Basil pestos are made from locally grown organic sweet Italian basil. Our basil is meticulously picked and defoliated by hand to ensure that every leaf is “perfectto.” We use 100% pure olive oil, lactose-free Pecorino Romano cheese, and sea salt imported from Italy. The pesto comes in an easy-to-use, airtight pouch that has a refrigerated shelf-life up to 6 months, even after opening. We also use fresh California garlic and walnuts. We don’t use any fillers or extenders and no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives (*except the soybean oil in our lemon-lime marinade).
American Basil pesto is concentrated and a little goes a long way. Each 8 oz package can be used on 2 to 2 1/2 lbs of pasta. In addition to pasta, the versatility of our pesto stretches beyond the world of bread, rice, pasta and potatoes, but is great on any type of meat, vegetable, grain, tofu or as a condiment to enhance the flavor on sandwiches, wraps, eggs, soups, meatloaf, stews, casseroles and salads. American Basil is more than just a sauce! As a salad dressing, simply mix a little balsamic vinegar with pesto and voila!
